The New Markets Manager will maintain responsibility for the following:

  1. The identification and development of new housing and housing microfinance opportunities for the Group, in different countries.
  2. Providing an oversight and advisory role with regard to sales and marketing in all countries of operation.
  3. Fulfilling the role of relief country head as and when required.

Key Deliverables of the New Markets Manager

  1. New Country Development:

    1. Identify new countries which have potential for the company to operate in.
    2. Investigate all legislative, competitive and macro factors which might influence an investment decision in that country.
    3. Prepare and present a suitable report in motivation of same.
    4. In cases where approval for entering a new country is provided, proceed in obtaining the requisite licences, deduction codes etc.
    5. In cases where the requisite approvals and deduction codes have been obtained, prepare and present a budget in support of commencing operations.
    6. In cases where such budget in support of a new operation is approved, proceed in setting up offices in that country, appointing staff and operationalising same.

  2. Roving Country Manager:

    1. Stand in as country manager in the following cases:

      1. Where a current country manager is ill or on leave.
      2. Where a country manager has resigned or has been suspended or dismissed.
      3. Where an unfilled vacancy exists.

    2. Act as trouble shooter for a wide range of operational challenges in the following cases:

      1. Where specific country operational challenges require specialist attention.
      2. In cases where turnaround strategies are required.

  3. Sales Analysis:

    1. Monitor daily sales results for each country.
    2. Monitor sales strategy implementation in each country.
    3. Monitor sales staff activity in each country.
    4. Monitor product and sectoral performance in each country.

  4. Marketing Management:

    1. Assessing of competitors' value propositions in each country and making appropriate recommendations for amendments to the firm’s existing offerings in each country.
    2. Recommending of amended/additional strategies for products in each country.
    3. Monitoring and management of all external sales and marketing campaigns, advertising and promotions, to ensure accuracy and consistency of image, presentation and message.
    4. Ensuring that the rollout of the new corporate identity is appropriately rolled out and implemented in each country.







Requirements: Qualification and Skill


A relevant tertiary qualification is essential.

Experience / Background Preference

  1. The company will only look at candidates who have no less than 10 years related work experience.
  2. Previous experience within the financial services sector is essential.
  3. Furthermore, previous experience within the Microfinance sector is essential.
  4. Previous marketing and/or new business development experience is essential.
  5. Experience on the African continent (outside of South Africa) is essential.
  6. South African citizen
  7. Willingness to travel extensively
  8. An excellent command of English, both written and verbal, is a requirement of the role.
  9. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  10. A self-starter who shows initiative and assumes responsibility for projects.
  11. The ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks within strict time frames within a fast paced, pressurised environment.
  12. The ability to debate in a constructive manner and to challenge conventional wisdom/the status quo in order to achieve a culture dedicated to continuous improvement and best practices.
  13. Be prepared to meet opposition and resistance to ideas.
  14. Be alert to changing situations, show flexibility in approach, adaptability in difficult circumstances and continuously strive to achieve meaningful results.
  15. The ability to build strong relationships with team members, company management and stakeholders.
  16. The ability to influence and persuade others.
