Job Description:

Our client is a mining services company that are global leaders in manufacturing quality Certified Reference Materials for mining and exploration industries. The General Manager will strategically manage the Company to achieve the organisational objectives and create and sustain a profitable environment, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. They will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of Operations to be able to adequately advise in decision-making and ensure company growth and profitability.



  • Operations Management
  • Determine and allocate resources accordingly.
  • Communicate the business objectives to the team, and closely monitor performance against these objectives.
  • Take accountability for continuous improvement of the region.
  • Consolidate reporting requirements for the region.
  • Ensure that the invoicing is processed timeously.
  • Manage budgets and improve revenue within the region.
  • Monitor the work area to ensure that a safe environment is maintained, and all safety rules are followed.
  • Manage the region’s financial performance to assure that a quality product is provided at the least possible cost.
  • Exercise judgment based on data and logic within set parameters and guidelines.
  • Anticipate a broad range of problems and develop solutions.
  • Implement a BBBEE strategy to meet company targets.
  • Team Management
  • Lead team activities to ensure Group objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, cost-effective manner, and according to the highest quality specifications.
  • Provide feedback at regular intervals to team members & conduct performance evaluations of assigned team members.
  • Supervise, coach and train new and current employees, where required.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate shifts and activities of workers to meet production schedules.
  • Identify training and developmental needs necessary and conduct required training for assigned employee groups.
  • Implement a successful organizational culture.
  • Customer Relationship Management
  • Develop and manage relationships with relevant persons internally and externally.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders on outstanding information or queries timeously.
  • Build the company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees.
  • Drive brand awareness.



Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Business Management qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ management experience.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in a similar position and within a similar industry; Manufacturing industry experience crucial / FMCG would be considered
  • Previous experience in a company reporting into a group structure is an added advantage.
  • Technical science knowledge.
  • Good understanding of finance.
  • Sales knowledge
  • Proficient in using MS Office suite.
  • Sage Evolution knowledge or similar
  • Commercial acumen
  • Persuasive and articulate – communicates clearly and reasons logically
  • Respects and works well with others.
  • Business networking skills
  • Proven people management skills
