Job Description:

Our client, a leading processing plant contract operator in Africa, is currently looking for a Process Superintendent. The ideal incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a metallurgical or chemical processing plant. This role involves ensuring efficient and safe plant operations, optimizing processes to maximize production and minimize costs, and maintaining high standards of quality control. The superintendent will also manage a team of plant personnel, coordinate maintenance activities, and implement safety and environmental compliance protocols. With at least 5 years of experience in plant operations and a minimum of 2 years as a Plant Metallurgist, the superintendent will utilize their technical expertise and leadership skills to drive continuous improvement and achieve operational goals.


  • Oversee daily operations of the plant to ensure efficient and effective production processes.
  • Optimize process parameters to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain product standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of plant personnel, including training and development.
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage operational budgets and resource allocation.
  • Analyze and report on production data to inform decision-making and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.


  • A bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
  • Relevant Business Management qualification will be an advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience and knowledge of plant operations of which at least 2 years must have been as a Plant Metallurgist.
