Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Senior Group Open Pit Mine Planner for their mining operations in Africa and the Middle East. The role involves leading a team to produce short-medium-long term mine plans in a safe, cost-effective, and optimized manner. The Mine Planner will collaborate with various departments and ensure that technical projects are planned, designed, implemented, and delivered to meet business requirements on time and on budget. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of mine safety standards, policies, and procedures, and be able to work effectively in a team environment. A full understanding of the mining value chain is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and company corporate.
• Develop a technically capable and engaged planning team.
• Review and optimize mine plans for accuracy and practicality.
• Conduct regular site inspections for future planning assistance.
• Monitor and recommend cost-saving and schedule improvements.
• Make strategic decisions based on analysis, modelling, and communication.
• Perform quality control duties and assist with software changes.
• Train and mentor national engineers and periodically review planning cycle validity.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining
• 8 + years of Minining Engineering experience
• Advanced ability to use open pit mine planning software and mine optimisation software (Maptek preferred)
• Mine designs, schedules for long, medium, and short term.
• Understanding of mining equipment and productivities.
• Strong communication skills at various levels of seniority.
