Job Description:
Our client is seeking a reliable Transport Manager to oversee the secure, efficient, and cost-effective distribution of bulk petroleum products to their installations, retail outlets, and consumer sites.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the transportation operations meet client demands and maintain strategic stock levels, optimizing costs for maximum returns.
- Optimize the company's vehicle fleet to minimize downtime.
- Design, implement, and maintain efficient scheduling systems for loading, transport, and delivery.
- Co-coordinate contract negotiations for road transport, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, manuals, guidelines, and codes relevant to transport operations.
- Maintain the safety of all company vehicles and conduct bi-annual safety inspections.
- Perform Transport Audits for Road Transport Contractors, ensuring closure of Remedial Action Plans.
- Create transport costing models to maximize commercial value while adhering to safety and security standards.
- Identify areas for performance optimization in collaboration with Supply, Sales, and Marketing.
- Stay informed about industry developments, road networks, infrastructure, vehicle tracking, theft prevention, and relevant legislation to align transport strategy.
- Evaluate and enhance compliance with customer service standards.
- Ensure the transport department is fully staffed and compliant with labor laws and sector regulations.
Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain or similar
- 5 years’ experience in Transport/Fleet Management.
- Experience in the petroleum industry or transporting hazardous products is mandatory.
- Experienced with HSEQ environment in relation to the transport of petroleum or hazardous goods.
- Strong analysis, scenario planning and costing skills.
- Experience working with, implementing, and enforcing operating procedures, processes, standards, and policies.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience in contract management and working knowledge of commercial contract law.
