Feel like your life is out of control? Need some tips on how to take control of your life and be happier? Here are some tips that can help you live your best life.
Reading both opens your imagination and calms your mind. Dedicating 30 minutes a day to reading a book, ideally before be, is a great way to relax your mind, which in turn encourages a better sleep. Furthermore, you become more well-read, which can make you smarter.
Find a hobby and practice it every day
Feeling frustrated or sluggish? Try a physical sport like boxing or martial arts. Need mental stimulation? Give Chess or Sudoku a try. Having a hobby provides your mind and body with an activity that helps strengthen it. It also provides a break from your daily work life by focusing on something other than your job.
Say “no” more
I know people argue that saying “yes” more is important, but hear me out. Often times we say yes to things that we don’t want to do, or don’t have time for and we end up feeling overworked and over stressed. Learn to say no to the things that are not important. It marks an important level of self-control. Of course, with this comes the ability to discern between what is and isn’t important in your everyday life.
Be realistic and honest with yourself
It is important to stop and take stock of your life. Are your priorities, goals and the active steps you are taking to achieve them in line? Are you happy with your current life?Could you be thinking too big for what you are realistically able to do?
Minimise your digital obsession
The majority of jobs have a digital element that encourage us to be chained to our desks and cellphones for 9 hours a day. You need a digital break. Short-wavelength blue light, present in electronic devices, can greatly determine your mood, energy level, and sleep quality. Set aside time, preferably the last hour before you go to sleep, where you do not touch an electronic device. This will encourage a better night’s sleep.
